Youth can join a Scouting America troop if they meet one of three requirements:
We’re so excited your daughter is interested in joining! To visit the troop, fill out the form linked here and someone from the troop will reach out with more information on what troop meetings would work well for visitors.
Every scout is required to have a Class A uniform. She will also need a Scout Handbook to track her rank advancements and reference information for important scout skills. These materials can be purchased at a nearby Scout Shop.
Additional things might be needed for special events like camping. A list of what a scout will need can be found on the Resources page of the website. Adults and other scouts are willing to share or provide extra equipment if needed.
A patrol is a smaller unit of scouts within the overall troop. We currently have 3 patrols, consisting of 7-9 Scouts in each. Each is lead by a Patrol Leader, with help from an Assistant Patrol Leader. Each patrol comes up with their own name, cheer, flag, and patch.
Every year, Troop 192 forms new patrols with new leaders and members for different scouts to get leadership experience. Patrols work together to cook at campouts, do team building activities, and help one another with advancement.
“Class A” (worn for Courts of Honor, meetings during the school year, and traveling to campsites) consists of:
Tan Scouts BSA uniform shirt with earned patches sewn/ironed on
Green Scouts BSA uniform pants/shorts
BSA belt (from high adventure base or Scout Shop)
Troop 192 neckerchief and slide (or a special program neckerchief like NYLT)
Comfortable close toed shoes
“Class B” (worn for work projects, sports/games, summer meetings, campouts, or elsewhere when Class A’s might get damaged):
Troop 192 shirt or Scout shirt/sweatshirt or blank shirt/sweatshirt
Gray/khaki/tan/brown shorts or pants
Comfortable close toed shoes
A Court of Honor is a ceremony where troop members are recognized for rank advancement, earned merit badges, and other special awards. Courts of Honor occur about every 3 months. Scouts wear their full Class A uniform (including their merit badge sash!) and families are invited to attend these ceremonies to honor their scout(s).
Yes! If you are interested in getting involved in the troop either as a Scout leader or a parent, reach out to our Scoutmaster for more information about how you can help the troop.
The Order of the Arrow is Scouting’s National Honor Society. It recognizes Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. Scouts can be elected in by their unit once they meet certain requirements.
For more information, reach out to the Troop 192 OA Representative or visit the Order of the Arrow website.
